H. J. Toudy & Co. were lithographers and printers of this trade card, the obverse of which depicted the Agricultural Hall in the International Exhibition of the Centennial Exposition of 1876. As the first official World’s Fair in the United States, the Exposition celebrated the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This trade card advertised dentist Samuel Kimmell and his use of “Nitrous Oxide Gas” in Philadelphia, the site of the Centennial Exposition. (See reverse of trade card in Anesthesiology Reflections, this issue, p. 1490.) This trade card is part of the Wood Library-Museum’s Ben Z. Swanson Collection.
